4 Figured it out. Place the mouse with the Kensington name furthest away from you. Press down hard and push forward, the cover will slide off.

0 Above answer very helpful, but those of us who are fearful just an added note - turn the mouse upside down (like a turtle) so the on-off switch is on top.
