SETTING UP THE PC TO CONFIGURE THE MODEM
Set up your PC to be on the same IP subnet as the modem. Since the modem default uses DHCP,
it will automatically configure your IP settings once you set up that option. If you want to view
or change the default IP address for the modem, see Using the RS-232 Management Port on
page 80.
The following is an example of how to set up a PC running Microsoft Windows 98.
1 Open the
Control Panel then double-click the Network icon.
2 From the Configuration tab, double-click
TCP/IP.
3 If DHCP has been enabled on the modem (default), select
Obtain an IP
address automatically
and skip to step 5. Otherwise, select Specify an IP address.
4 Enter
IP Address and Subnet Mask. The default LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1. Use an IP
address from the following range: 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254. The default subnet mask
is 255.255.255.0.
5 Click

6 Click
OK to close the Network window.
7 Click
