Megabit Modem CRA-C IP Addresses
The Megabit Modem CRA-C has two IP addresses, one for the ADSL WAN
port and one for the Ethernet port. In Figure 13, the non-shaded side of the
provider and subscriber modems indicates the LAN address for the Ethernet
(10BASE-T) connection. The shaded side of the provider and subscriber
modems is the IP Line address for the ADSL line connection. Note that the IP
Line address is unique from the LAN addresses. When connecting a Megabit
Modem CRA-C and a Megabit Modem CRA point-to-point via ADSL, the IP
Line addresses are completely isolated and hidden from the rest of the
network. As a result, any valid IP address can be assigned to these ports but
should be on the same subnet.
When routing, data travels one hop at a time. Figure 13 shows destination
and next hop IP addresses. The destination address indicates the network and
subnetwork of the next hop for a common network topology . The default
gateway is the router to which datagrams are sent that do not have an assigned
route in the static routing table.
Use Figure 13 as a worksheet to help you determine/record static IP
routing addresses.
