Tributary DSU Addressing
Tributary DSU addresses are user-definable, but take
care that their addresses are unique on a multipoint circuit.
If two tributaries are assigned the same address, you will
not be able to communicate with either one.
The control DSU accesses its tributary by specifying
the tributary’s address.
The 6700 Series NMS accesses the DSU via its
network address. To access a tributary DSU, the NMS
first addresses the control, then the tributary. An address
issued from the NMS takes the format of control
channel/control network address/tributary network
address. This is called link-level network addressing.
Figure 2-6 shows an example of DSU and DBM
addressing, as well as link-level network addressing.
Refer to Chapter 4 to learn how to set the DSU’s
network address.
