Understanding Power Management
Power mana
g
ement lets
y
ou reduce
y
our Notebook power
consumption. Your Notebook has two power
mana
g
ement modes:
Hibernation saves information to the hard drive
and then turns off
y
our Notebook. Your Notebook
hibernates when the Power button is pressed, when the
batter
y
has little power left, or when
y
our Notebook
(operatin
g
on batter
y
power) is in Sleep mode for more
than one hour.
Sleep, also called Standb
y
, puts
y
our Notebook in low-
power mode. It is still on, but the displa
y
appears blank.
Caution:
Although Sleep mode maintains system information and
open files, you will lose any unsaved information if you turn off
your Notebook before you end the Sleep mode.
