To replace an ink cartridge, follow these steps.
1. Make sure the printer is on. Determine which cartridge
needs to be replaced as indicated by the Ink out (
or )
light.
2. Open the printer cover using the notch on the cover.
3. Hold down the Alt button for about three seconds. The
print heads move left slightly to the cartridge install
position, and the Pause light flashes when the print heads
are in position.
Note:
The printer automatically moves the print heads back to their
home (far right) position after about 60 seconds if you have not
started the replacement procedure.

Caution:
Do not move the print heads by hand. Always use the Alt
button to move them. Otherwise you may damage the
printer.
4. Lift up the clamp that holds the cartridge you want to replace
as far as it will go. When you do, the cartridge will rise
partly out of the cartridge holder.
