Thank you for your purchase of an ES-E28 Slide Copying Adapter for Nikon digital cameras. With the slide-
copying adapter attached to your COOLPIX5000, 4500, 4300, 995, 990, 950, 885, or 880 digital camera, it is
easy to make photographs from 35 mm film.

After photographing film negatives, you will need to reverse the colors using imaging software. However, the COOLPIX5000,
4500 and 995 can easily display reverse colored negatives in the camera monitor (Inverse Color option).
About the Symbols Used in This Manual
3 With the image in the LCD monitor as your guide, use the zoom buttons to adjust the picture angle.

In macro close-up mode, the COOLPIX990 and 950 will not be able to focus when zoomed
to a position close to minimum or maximum zoom. Adjust zoom appropriately.
✔ Depending on the slide used, you may occasionally find that the camera is unable to
focus using autofocus. For example, the camera may have difficulty focusing when:
• The image on the film is extremely dark
• The image on the film contains extremely large differences in brightness
• The image on the film is without contrast
The composition can be adjusted by moving the adapter head up or down and by sliding the holder left
or right. Use the zoom buttons to crop the photograph (Figure 3).
4 Press the shutter-release button all the way down to record the photograph.

Attaching the Slide Copying Adapter
Depending on the camera model, you may need to attach a step down ring lens adapter (available sepa-
rately) before attaching the slide copying adapter. If your camera requires the use of a lens adapter, see table
below, first attach the lens adapter to the camera lens, then screw the slide copying adapter into the lens
adapter.

3 Mit den Zoomtasten der Kamera können Sie den Bildwinkel auf einen Ausschnitt der Filmvorlage
einschränken. Überprüfen Sie den aktuellen Ausschnitt auf dem LCD-Monitor. Die richtige Schärfe stellt
die Kamera automatisch ein.
✔ In der Makroeinstellung können die COOLPIX990 und 950 bei extremen Tele- oder
Weitwinkelpositionen nicht richtig scharf stellen. Nehmen Sie die Scharfeinstellung in
diesem Fall manuell vor.
✔ Abhängig von der verwendeten Vorlage (z.B. Dia) kann es Schwierigkeiten bei der auto-
matischen Scharfeinstellung geben. Dies kann zum Beispiel vorkommen, wenn:
• das Motiv auf der Vorlage sehr dunkel ist
• die Vorlage extrem starke Hell/Dunkel-Kontraste aufweist
• das Motiv insgesamt wenig Kontrast bietet
Um einen dezentralen Bildausschnitt am Rand der Vorlage zu wählen, können Sie den Vorsatzkopf nach
oben oder unten verschieben. Eine horizontale Justierung erreichen Sie durch Verschieben des Film-
halters. Mit den Zoomtasten der Kamera bestimmen Sie die Größe des Ausschnitts (Abb. 3).
4 Drücken Sie den Auslöser zur Aufnahme ganz durch.

After attaching the slide-copying adapter as described above, loosen the locking screw and rotate the
adapter head until the holder insertion slot is parallel with the camera’s horizontal axis (Figure 1).
Taking Photographs
1 Place the film to be photographed into the holder (Figure 2).
✔ If the film has curl or is placed at an angle to the holder, parts of the resulting photo-
graph may not be in focus.
✔ Use daylight, a light box, or similar light sources. When using an incandescent light
source, keep the diffuser screen at least thirty centimeters (one foot) from the bulb.
✔ If the adapter is placed too close to an incandescent light bulb or left too long in its
vicinity, the heat may damage the film or deform the holder.

Nachdem Sie den oben bezeichneten Adapterring angebracht haben, lösen Sie die Feststellschraube des
Vorsatzkopfes und richten Sie ihn durch Drehen parallel zur horizontalen Bildachse aus. Sie können sich
dabei an den seitlichen Führungsschlitzen für den Filmhalter orientieren (Abb. 1).
Anfertigen der Reproduktionen
1 Legen Sie den Film, den Sie reproduzieren möchten, in den dafür vorgesehenen Filmhalter ein (Filmst-
reifen- oder Diahalter) (Abb. 2).
✔ Wenn der Filmstreifen gewellt ist oder schief in den Halter eingelegt wird, werden
einige Bereiche der Vorlage möglicherweise nicht scharf reproduziert.
✔ Verwenden Sie eine gleichmäßige Lichtquelle wie helles Tageslicht oder einen
Leuchtkasten. Wenn Sie den Diakopiervorsatz auf eine Glühlampe richten, halten Sie
einen Abstand von mindestens 30 cm zwischen Lichtquelle und Streuscheibe ein.
✔ Wenn der Diakopiervorsatz zu nahe an eine Glühlampe gehalten oder zu lange in der
Nähe einer Glühlampe aufbewahrt wird, besteht aufgrund der starken Wärmeentwicklung
die Gefahr dass der Film beschädigt wird oder sich der Filmhalter verformt.
2 Nehmen Sie beim Fotografieren mit dem Diakopiervorsatz folgende Einstellungen an der Kamera vor:
