Cause and/or Solution
The power is not turned on.
b Turn on the power. (p. 7)
The floppy disk is not installed properly.
b Remove the disk and reinstall it. (p. 8)
You did not press the STANDBY button.
b Press the STANDBY button to turn on the STANDBY lamp.

Floppy disk is full.
b Delete the images you don’t want to keep, and then start
recording. (p. 22)
b Change the floppy disk.
No disk has been inserted.
b Insert a disk.
The disk which cannot be used with the unit is installed.
b Use 2HD, 1.44MB, MS-DOS formatted disk. (p. 4)
The tab on the disk is set to the write protect position.
b Slide the tab to shut the opening. (p. 8)
The battery is dead.
b Use a charged battery pack. (p. 23)
The unit is placed near a TV or other equipment that generates
strong magnets.
b Place the unit away from the TV, etc.
The LCD screen is adjusted too dark.
b Adjust brightness of the LCD screen. (p. 14, 17)
The date and time are not set.

The ambient temperature is too low.
Charging of the battery pack is not enough.

Troubleshooting
Should any problem persist after you have made those checks, consult your nearest
Sony dealer. If “C:ππ:ππ” appears on the LCD screen or on the TV, the self-
diagnosis function has worked. See page 30.
Symptom
The unit does not work.
You cannot record images.
The picture is noisy.
The picture on the LCD screen
is too dark. (MVC-FDR3/
FDR3E only)
Incorrect date and time are
recorded.
The battery life deteriorates too
fast.
You cannot play back the
images.
You cannot delete an image.
The power turns off
automatically.
