Upgrading Your VAIO Computer
Notes on installing hard disk drives
The entire repair cost will be charged if there is a failure or an accident arising from replacement of a hard disk by yourself.
Hard disk replacement requires great care. Improper installation or removal will cause a malfunction of your computer.
If you need assistance to replace a hard disk, contact an authorized Sony Service Center. To find the nearest center or
agent, see Sony Support Information (page 204).
Some hard disks are not compatible with your computer. Contact the manufacturer of your hard disk for compatibility with
VAIO computers.
Be sure to unplug your computer and peripheral devices from power sources before replacing either hard disk. Replacing
a hard disk while your computer is plugged to a power source may cause damage to the computer and the connected
peripheral devices as well as the hard disk.
About hard disk drive recovery
When you replace the original hard disk drive, the preinstalled VAIO Recovery Center cannot restore the drive partitions,
operating system, or original software programs. Before replacing the hard disk drive, create your own recovery discs.
See the on-screen VAIO Recovery Center User Guide for more information.
