4 Replacement Procedures 4.24 Fan and CPU
Installing the Fan and CPU
To install the fan and CPU, follow the steps below and refer to the figures in the preceding
section.
CAUTION: If you remove the heat sink, please use soft cloth with alcohol to clean the
CPU and heat sink. Reapply 7762 grease before installing the heat sink.

1. Make sure that the notch on the cam is aligned with the open position of the CPU slot.
2. Seat the CPU aligning the triangle mark on the CPU with the one on the CPU socket.
Make sure the alignment is exact to avoid damaging pins on the CPU.
3. Press the CPU softly with your fingers to insert into the socket and turn the cam on the
CPU socket to the closed position with a flat-blade screwdriver to secure the CPU.
4. Seat the heat sink over the CPU and secure with four screws in the order indicated on the
heat sink.
5. Seat the fan module and secure with the two M2.5x3 screws on the front side of the
system board.
6. Attach the fan connector.
