the letters P,O I U J K L M all have numbers or ic...

the letters P,O I U J K L M all have numbers or icons on the key and those are coming up instead of the letter when i am typing ! How to I get out of that mode that is obviously locked ? it's driving me crazy - don't know what to hit ? tried Caps Lock but not the answer
