My Brother all -in- one Printer will not load the...

My Brother all -in- one Printer will not load the Black Ink cartridge, can anyone tell me the problem and how to fix it? it gives a code that black is empty when I put all new cartridges for all colors in the printer. Been without my printer for couple years now!! Thanks Yall
