how to get rid of fax tone while answering a phone...

how to get rid of fax tone while answering a phone call? i already choose the manual mode but still when some one calls and i hang the hand set the fax tone automatically turn on and i cant hear what the caller is saying the sound is irritating please i need your reply asap. thanks
