how do i print a 8 1/2 x 11" photo? you sell 8 1/...

how do i print a 8 1/2 x 11" photo? you sell 8 1/2 x 11" photo paper for the PIXMA series printers, but every time I try to print a photo that size it says that there is no paper loaded in the upper tray (which is correct, the upper tray won't take that size paper, so I put it in the lower tray).
