I just recently bought a (refurbished) Gateway FPD1775W 17" LCD/HD monitor from "Tiger direct". I have had it for 1 1/2 weeks now but have not recently hooked it up until about 5 days ago when I got my new video card. I used it for 2 hours when all of a sudden the monitor died. within about 8 hours the monitor popped back on all of a sudden and worked for about another 2 hours (approximate). so I unhooked it for 2 days and hooked my ancient Gateway 2000 monitor up. I tried once again and it popped on this time for about 10 hours of usage when it finally when out and has not been on since. It is like no power is drawing to anything but everything else of the computer works. Each time it started with a flickering before it went out. There is only few things I can think of and are as follows a) not enough power in my apts which is unlikely since everything else works in my place. b)either the screen or else chip fried and burnt out c) there is a current of static of electricity that is interfering with the power connecting from both the wall-plugin and surge-protector d) the company sold me a defective product e) the power cord is either defective or not enough voltage to power the monitor P.S! They sent me the totally wrong power cord with my monitor so I had to go to radio shack and buy one, which is a 3-Pin "Clover" cord. As well I need to know if I run the cord directly from the monitor to the wall or else is there an (AC) adapter I need for a certain wattage and volt? Anyways this is my first experience with the new LCD/HD from my old (CRT) and not a pleasant one at that, especially since I am on disability and $140 is money I can not replace or have to be spending like that. I would hate to have to shell out more money for a brand-new monitor, although I know this is the chance you take on (refurbished) products. Any help to resolve this would be highly appreciated! Thanks!!!
