Question About Gateway Laptop mx644
black screen...

My laptop has a black screen and i cant make out what is behind it.I hooked it up to another monoter and it works o.k. It also plays cd"s.Also the only way that I can turn it own is with a eraser from a pincle.The power button is broke.If the power button is broke will it require a new motherboard.Thanks for any help
