Gateway Laptop advances to Gateway { spelt Gatwewa...

Gateway Laptop advances to Gateway { spelt Gatweway }Logo on Blue Screen and asks for Personal Password. Trouble is I don't know the Password ,it's a bit of a long story, can you guide me on how I can access the system. Windows Vista is installed. Thanks
