fax problem...

error light flashing. messsage on laserjet screen "52 Scanner Error, Turn off then on". I am unable to use the fax, the primary reason for purchasing this equipment. Following the on/off procedure enables the fax for about two minutes, then the above message reappears and the fax is again inoperative. HELP
