Playing Blue Ray through TV...

I connected my brand new HP G70-120EA laptop to my Sony LCD HD ready TV with a HDMI x HDMI cable then played a Blue Ray film disc on my laptop. Nothing appeared on my TV ! What do I need to do on my laptop to tell it to send the signal to my TV? I don't have a manual for my laptop having inadvertantly thrown it away with the packing !! Many thanks for any help.
