Hi I have been printing with only colour cartridge...

Hi I have been printing with only colour cartridge in my hp office jet 4500 . i have now inserted a new genuine BLACK cartridge and i keep getting error. PRINT CARTRIDGE PROBLEM (BLACK) REFER TO DEVICE DOCUMENTS ? i have refered to the manual but nothing referes to my problem. PAUL
