My 6210 Office Jet All-in-One sometimes takes up ...

My 6210 Office Jet All-in-One sometimes takes up to 10 minutes to copy one checks!! Other times it copies a page in less than a minute. What is causing this problem? Is there something that I can do or is there step that I am overlooking? Thanks in advance for your reply. Ed
