How to fix Backlight or replace backlight...

Whenever I turn on or turn off & turn on my monitor the screen comes back for a few seconds and then goes black. I suspect the backlight has gone bad, if that is the case, how can I fix/replace the backlight. Can I have it repaired some where. I am in Toronto, Canada.
