I scanned about a twenty page color document and when I received it in e-mail it can as three different message with an attachment with a .dat file extension. Is there a utility to put these together to make a PDF file? If I selected high compression color scan I got one PDF file as expected but the resolution was not as good.

4 If you go into the web interface for your network printer using your web browser(it's IP address), there will be a section that deals with saving the files, scanning or emailing. You want to look for the section that deals with the "default file type". Under that will be a section that deals with the fragmentation size of the attachement. You want to set it to "none" or "maximum". What's happening is that the PDF file size exceeds the default limit, so the copier errors out and creates several small DAT files instead. Hope this helps.
