Question About Sanyo Microcassette Recorder None

HAVEN'T USED SINCE IT WAS GIVEN TO ME ABOUT 4 YRS AGO. TRIED IT, AND THE BATTERIES SEEM TO HAVE ADEQUATE PWR, IT IS VOICE ACTIVATED & DOES SEEM TO RECORD BUT WHEN TRYING PLAYBACK, WE DON'T GET ANY SOUND... IT RERNDS FAST SO BATTERIES SEEM OK. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
