5 make sure the GT . Rate Set switch is all the way to the right on "rate set" (this is next to the decimal setter). Anywho, for example, to set it as January 30, 2009. You would first hit the button that displays a clock and a calender until you see the date currently set. Then key in " 1.30.2009" then hit the button that shows the clock and calendar again and it's set. For the time, you have to enter it in military time. Hit the button that displays the clock and calendar until the current time is displayed then enter "16.40" and hit the clock / calendar button again and it programs it to 4:40pm. Hope this helps! I just figured mine out and it worked :)
