I have a Sony Vaio PCG- 7N2L. It has a switch underneith on the front to turn on Wi-Fi use. I get a network connection at 400 BPS but it has no IP address. This has happened at a friends huse and at a McDonalds with WiFi support. I haven't used WiFi on the laptop since 2008 when I was in a hospital but it worked then, I would think it would work now.
