Modular switches with Layer 2–4 intelligent network
services offer enterprises, small- to medium-sized
businesses, and service providers added
investment protection.
The Catalyst 4500 Series switches are mid-range, medium-density modular
chassis delivering robust Layer 2–4 intelligent services. The modular
architecture, media flexibility, and expandability of the Cisco Catalyst 4500
Series extends deployment life, while reducing the cost of ownership by
minimizing recurring operational expenses and improving return on investment.
Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series switches extend control to the network edge
with intelligent network services, including sophisticated quality of service
(QoS), predictable performance, advanced security, and comprehensive
management. This series delivers advanced control with integrated resiliency
in both hardware and software. This minimizes network downtime and
helps to ensure workforce productivity, profitability, and customer success.
The Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series includes four chassis: the Catalyst 4510R
(10 slots), the Catalyst 4507R (seven slots), Catalyst 4506 (six slots), and
Catalyst 4503 (three slots). A choice of supervisor engines delivers up to
136Gbps of Layer 2–4 switching. The series supports an extensive set of line
cards, providing up to 384 10/100 or 10/100/1000 ports with integrated PoE.
The series also supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplink ports for high-density
Gigabit Ethernet-to-the-desk deployments and switch-to-switch applications.
