Try to determine which clients will be used and check the coverage using those clients. For
example, a PDA or Wi‐Fi phone might not have the same range as a
notebook or tablet.

AP 3600 can beamform to 802.11n clients, so it is important to understand the data
requirementsifyoumixtheAP1260,3500,and3600inthesameareas.
While site surveys are generally recommended, if the design is done at half power and Cisco
RRMis
inplace, alimited sitesurveymaybe adequateforsmaller venues.Invery challenging
environments suchas trainconnectivity, Gas& Oilverticals, largehospitals, and soforth, you
can contract with the Cisco Advanced Services team to help or to perform your installation.

The AP 3600 was introduced in the 7.1.91 or higher code stream and is supported by the
following: Cisco 2500, 7500, 5508, and WiSM2 Series Controllers, WCS 7.0.220or higher, and
NCS1.1orhigher.TheAP1600andtheAP2600wereintroducedinthe7.4
release.
Theruleofthumbcoverageplanis:oneAPper5,000squarefeetfordataandoneAPper3,000
squarefeetforvoiceandlocationservices.
Some clients (especially older ones) do not support the UNII‐2 extended client channels 100‐
140;therefore,if you
haveolderclients,youmaywanttodisablethemintheDCAchannellist.
Note: The newer 802.11ac clients support these channels, and more clients are starting to
supportthesechannelsall thetime.
