Extron electronic MLS 304SA Switch User Manual

High
bandwidth –
280 MHz (-3 dB) RGB video bandwidth
maintains signal integrity.
Flexible video and ster
eo audio inputs –
Inputs one and two
accept composite video and stereo audio, and are on RCA
connectors. Inputs three and four accept computer-video or
composite video and stereo audio, and are on female 15-pin HD
and 3.5 mm ster
eo mini jacks.
Versatile video outputs – The MLS 304MA and MLS 304SA
include dual RGB outputs. One is on five BNC connectors and the
second is on a female 15-pin HD connector. The 15-pin HD can
also be utilized as a buffered local monitor loop-through for the
signal connected to input four.
Balanced audio – Balanced or unbalanced audio is output on
captive screw connectors. The two line level outputs (one fixed
and one variable) can be set for mono or stereo.
Integrated audio amplifier – The MLS 304MA provides 20 watt
(rms) amplified mono audio output on captive screw terminals for
a 4 or 8 ohm load or 70/100 volt distributed audio system. The
MLS 304SA provides 24 watts (2 x 12 watts rms) for 4 ohm
speakers and 16 watts (2 x 8 watts rms) for 8 ohm speakers.
Auxiliary/Mix audio – An additional input accepts mono line
level audio signals for mixing with any of the four switchable
inputs.
Volume control – Adjustable locally from the front panel or
remotely when integrated with a MediaLink Controller or a third
party RS-232 based control system.
Loudness control – A unique audio feature of the MLS 304MA
and MLS 304SA that compensates for the nor
mal decr
eased
hearing ability of the human ear at low volume levels by
automatically boosting the low and high frequencies.
Triple-Action Switching
(RGB delay) – Blanks the screen
during switching of RGB signals to eliminate visible switching
transitions.
Fr
ont panel security lockout –
Allows security lockout of fr
ont
panel buttons and/or volume adjustment.
Remote control – The MLS Series Switchers are designed to work
with a MediaLink Controller. They can also be controlled via the
front panel or any third-party RS-232 based control system.
Rack-mountable – The MLS 304MA and MLS 304SA are housed
in a 1U, full rack width metal enclosure.

Switchers ar
e
simple-to-use, four input, multi-format active switchers with audio
amplifiers. Designed as economical solutions for single-projector
classrooms and conference rooms, both models provide composite
video, computer
-video, and audio switching.
The MLS 304MA and MLS 304SA include two inputs for composite
video with ster
eo audio on RCA connectors and two inputs for
computer-video with stereo audio on 15-pin HD connectors and
3.5 mm ster
eo mini jacks. Inputs three and four, both on 15-pin HD
connectors, are also configurable for computer-video, as well as
composite video. The switchers are equipped with dual RGB outputs.
One is on five BNC connectors and the other is on a 15-pin HD
connector. The 15-pin HD connector can also be utilized as a
buffered loop-through of input number 4 for a local monitor,
eliminating the need for a distribution amplifier and simplifying
operations.
MediaLink Switchers are designed to be used in conjunction with a
MediaLink Controller to facilitate low-cost integration. They can also
be used as stand-alone switchers.
Audio
For audio, each switcher includes two line level outputs (one fixed
and one variable) that can be configured for mono or stereo output
via RS-232. The MLS 304MA provides a 20 watt (rms) amplified
mono audio output on screw terminal for a 4 or 8 ohm load or
70/100 volt distributed audio system.
The MLS 304SA provides 24 watts (2 x 12 watts rms) for 4 ohm
speakers and 16 watts (2 x 8 watts rms) for 8 ohm speakers. Like the
line level outputs, the integrated audio amplifier can be configured
for stereo (default) or dual mono output via RS-232.
