The display brightness changes with the ambient light. If you want to adjust
the brightness manually, turn off the option of Adjust my screen brightness
automatically.
To turn off this option:

Open the charms, select Settings → Change PC settings → General.

Move the slider from On to Off in the Adjust my screen brightness
automatically in Screen.
