Appendix. CRU instructions
Replacing the battery

To replace the battery, do the following:

Turn off the computer. Disconnect the AC power adapter and all cables
from the computer.

Close the computer display, and turn the computer over.

Unlock the manual battery latch . Hold the spring-loaded battery latch
in the unlocked position , remove the battery pack in the direction
shown by the arrow .

Install a fully charged battery.

Slide the manual battery latch to the locked position.

Turn the computer over again.
7
Connect the AC power adapter and the cables to the computer.
Notes:
• The illustrations used in this appendix are for the Lenovo G400, unless otherwise stated.
• The following steps about upgrading and replacing devices are the same for the G400 and
G500/G405/G505/G410/G510.
• Make sure the battery has been removed before replacing any devices.
Note:Use only the battery provided by Lenovo. Any other battery could ignite or explode.
