Safety Precautions

Precautions for Use
• Do not use the product with non-compatible devices.
• Unplug the power cable from the power outlet when not in use.
• Do not short the DC plug.
• Do not apply excessive force to the DC plug or cable while the AC adapter and camera are con-
nect ed. Failure to ob serve this precaution may re sult in mal func tion.
• Do not use with travel converters or adapters designed to convert from one voltage to another or
with DC-to-AC inverters. Failure to observe this precaution could damage the product or cause over-
heating or fi re.
Connecting the AC Adapter
Before connecting the AC adapt er, be sure the camera is off .
Follow these steps to connect the adapter (Figure 2; illustration shows D3):

Plug the AC adapter plug into the AC adapt er (Figure 2-a).

Open the camera DC-IN connector cover and in sert the DC plug into the DC-IN con nec tor
(Figure 2-b).

Plug the wall plug into a pow er outlet (Figure 2-c).

Turn the camera on.
When operating the camera with the AC adapter, take care that the camera does not ac ci den tal ly
be come un plugged.
• The AC adapter can be connected while a battery is inserted in the camera. While the AC adapter
is connected, power will be supplied by the AC adapter, not the battery. The battery can also be
removed to make the camera lighter.
To prevent the accumulation of dust inside the camera while the battery is removed, replace the bat-
tery-chamber cover (the cover for EN-EL4 series batteries must fi rst be removed; see the instruction
manual provided with the battery).
✔ IMPORTANT
Before disconnecting the AC adapt er, be sure the camera is off . Unplug the DC plug from the
camera’s DC-IN con nec tor, then unplug the pow er cable from the power source by pull ing on the
plug, not the cable.

Attaching the Cord Clips
Two cord clips are included with the EH-6a. When both the EH-6a and the UC-E4 USB cable are con-
nected, these clips can be used to clip the two cables together, preventing the cables from tangling.
Use the larger side of the clip for the EH-6a DC cable, the smaller side for UC-E4.

Connecter l’adaptateur secteur EH-6a
Avant de connecter l’adaptateur secteur, vérifi ez que l’appareil photo est bien hors ten-
sion.
Suivez les étapes suivantes pour connecter l’adaptateur (fi gure 2; illustration montre D3).

Soulevez le cache du port d’entrée courant continu de l’appareil et insérez la fi che d’ali-
mentation boîtier dans le port d’entrée courant continu (fi gure 2-b).

Branchez la fi che alimentation secteur dans une prise de cou rant (fi gure 2-c).

Mettez l’appareil-photo sous tension.
Lorsque l’ap pa reil photo fonctionne avec l’adaptateur secteur, veillez à ce qu’il ne se débran-
che pas accidentellement.
• Vous pouvez connecter l’adaptateur secteur même lorsqu'un accumulateur est présent
dans l’appareil photo. Dans ce cas, c’est l’adaptateur secteur qui alimente l’appareil et
non l’accumulateur. Vous pouvez également retirer l’accumulateur pour alléger l’appareil
photo.
Pour éviter toute accumulation de poussière à l’intérieur de l’appareil photo lorsque l’ac-
cumulateur ne s’y trouve pas, veillez à refermer le volet du logement pour accumulateur
(pour les accumulateurs de la série EN-EL4, vous devez d’abord détacher le volet de l’ac-
cumulateur ; reportez-vous au manuel d’instructions fourni avec l’accumulateur).
