Note that the primary master, if configured, must be a
boot drive (normally a hard disk). Other than this,
an IDE device can be configured to any IDE interface
port and either as a master or a slave at your own
choice. Here master and slave do not imply any
operating precedence; they are just the “sub-IDs” of
the devices that your computer needs to know about.
Note:
1. Currently, a CD-ROM drive cannot be used as a
boot drive. Therefore, you cannot configure
the CD-ROM drive as the primary master.
2. Your CD-ROM can be attached to any IDE
controller that supports up to eight IDE
devices.
3. If you are using OS/2 Warp and another device
has already been configured as the primary
slave, we highly recommend that you
configure the CD-ROM drive as the master
device of one of the rest available IDE
ports.
