Long-lasting batteries
Up to 5 continuous hours of operation are
supplied by the standard (48.84Wh) battery – a
nearly 30% improvement in capacity. An
optional, large-capacity (97.68Wh) battery
(PCGA-BP4V) is also available that offers up to
10 hours of operation. Bring it along to keep
your VAIO going strong during heavy duty usage.
Accelerated architecture
From its very conception, the compact VAIO
V505 was designed to deliver accelerated
performance. Its 400 MHz system bus is triple
the speed of conventional systems, while its
dual memory slots allow a maximum 1GB* of
DDR266 SDRAM — double the conventional
speed and capacity. Speedy frame rates are
also ensured by a high-performance ATI
MOBILITY™ RADEON™ graphics accelerator.

Slim built-in Combo Drive
Slim enough to fit within the compact
dimensions of VAIO V505, the versatile Combo
Drive lets you watch DVDs, read CDs (24x), write
CD-R discs (8x) and write CD-RW discs (4x)
wherever you go — without using a dock.
Extremely reliable and efficient, the Combo Drive
also features Buffer Under-run Error protection
that helps ensure fast, error-free CD recording
every time.
Easy wireless communications
Wireless LAN Access is built right into VAIO
V505, allowing outdoor broadband connection
for mobile Net surfing, e-mail, image uploading
and more in cafés, restaurants, shopping malls,
hotels, airports and stations — wherever LAN
Access Points are provided. It’s an extraordinary
new level of freedom! Moreover, you can set up
your own 2.4GHz wireless LAN Access Point at
home or your office, enabling any VAIOs in the
vicinity to share videos, images and music!
Port replicator with easy typing angle
When using VAIO V505 at your office or home,
the optional port replicator lets you quickly
connect with peripherals. Simply attach VAIO
V505 to connect, or detach it to go mobile. The
new user-friendly design maintains a low
keyboard angle for easy typing. Expanded
connections include a DVI-D port for crystal-
clear output to digital monitors, 3 USB ports
(making a total of 5) and VGA out, LAN, Printer,
and DC in terminals.

Digital AV solution
VAIO V505’s i.LINK connector provides a speedy,
direct link between your Digital Handycam and
VAIO V505’s editing capabilities, which let you
edit images for photo albums or create CD/MD
labels with Sony’s DigitalPrint application. Using
Sony’s SonicStage software, you can also
transfer recorded music to a MagicGate Memory
Stick for playback on a Memory Stick Walkman*
or CLIÉ handheld*. MagicGate technology is
copyright protected and makes the process
smooth and speedy.

User-friendly controls
The keyboard is designed for serious typing. Its
two-tone color scheme simplifies recognition of
individual keys, and all keys are slightly curved to
ergonomically fit your fingertips. Flush surfaced
and refined, without beveled edges, the newly
designed touch pad also contributes to
streamlined operation. Both click buttons are
curved and the right click button is ribbed for
easy tactile recognition.

The slim, lightweight design of this compact AC
