Modem jack The modem jack lets you use a modular cable to
connect the modem directly to a telephone line.
Some models are equipped with a modem jack.
Connection to any communication line other than an analog phone line
could cause a PC system failure.
Connect the built-in modem only to ordinary analog phone lines.
Never connect the built-in modem to a digital line (ISDN).
Never connect the built-in modem to the digital connector on a
public telephone or to a digital private branch exchange (PBX).
Never connect the built-in modem to a key telephone system for
residences or offices.
Avoid using your computer modem with the telephone cable connected
during an electrical storm. There may be a remote risk of electric shock
from lightning.
Optical disc drive The computer may be configured with a DVD
Super Multi, Blu-ray™ Combo or Blu-ray™ Writer
drive.
DC IN 19V jack The AC adaptor connects to this jack in order to
power the computer and charge its internal
batteries. Please note that you should only use
the model of AC adaptor supplied with the
computer at the time of purchase - using the
wrong AC adaptor can cause damage to the
computer.

Battery pack The battery pack provides power to the computer
when the AC adaptor is not connected. For more
detailed information on the use and operation of
the battery pack please refer to Chapter 6, Power
and Power-Up Modes.
