Using Digital Zoom
Digital zoom produces a VGA size image (640 x 480 pixels)
that can be double or four times the size of the original im-
age.
Using digital zoom and optical zoom in combination can
zoom an image to 32X.
IMPORTANT!
• The focus range for Auto Focus depends on the opti-
cal zoom setting as shown below.
• The camera may not be able to focus on an image if
the subject is closer than the distances noted above.
Use the macro mode for very close subjects.
• Note that 4X digital zoom produces a relatively
rougher image than OFF or 2X when used in combina-
tion with Auto Focus.

Manual Focus
Manual Focus lets you manually adjust the focus of an im-
age.
1.
Slide the Function Switch to REC.
2.
Press a number of times until the
indicator appears on the monitor screen.
• Each press of cycles the focus mode in the
following sequence: Auto Focus Manual Focus
( ) Infinity ( ) Macro ( ).
3.
While “ ” is flashing on the monitor screen,
use [+] and [–] to focus the image.
• If you do not perform any focus operation for about
two seconds, the “ ” indicator stops flashing.
• After “ ” stops flashing, you can use [+] and [–] to
adjust exposure compensation (EV).
• If “ ” stops flashing before you have a chance to
focus, press to make “ ” flash again.
• Pressing while “ ” is flashing changes
the focus mode to Infinity.
