Parking Brake Adjustment
Neverattemptto adjustthebrakeswhiletheengineis running.
AlwaysdisengagePTO,moveshift leverintoneutralposition,stop
engineandremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting.
If thetractordoes notcometo acompletestopwhenthe brakepedal
is completelydepressed,or if the tractor'srearwheelscan rollwiththe
parkingbrakeapplied,the brakeisin needof adjustment.Contactthe
nearest Sears Service Centerto haveyourbrakesproperlyadjusted.

service,contact 1-800-4-MY-HOME®.
CUTTING DECK REMOVAL
To remove the cutting deck, proceed as follows:
1. Placethe PTO(Blade Engage)leverin the disengaged(OFF)
positionandengagethe parkingbrake.
2. Lowerthe deck by movingthe deck lift lever intothe bottom
notchon the rightfender.
3. Removetheself-tappingscrew(A) thatsecuresthebelt-keeper
rodfromaroundthe tractor'sPTOpulley,thenremovethe belt
keeperrod(B). SeeFig. 19.
NOTE: Makea mentalnotewhatholethe otherendofthe belt-keeper
rodisinsertedinfor reinstallationpurposes.
4. Removethebelt(C) fromaroundthetractor'sPTOpulley.See
Fig.19.

Lookingatthecuttingdeckfromthe leftside of thetractor,locate
the bow-tiepinthat securesthedecksupportrodonthe rear
Idt sideofthe deck. SeeFig.20. Removethebow-tiepinthat
securesthedecksupportrod,andcarefullyremovethedeck
supportfromthe decklift arm.

6. Repeattheabovestepson the tractor'srightside.
NOTE: Thebow-tieclipsshouldbe re-installedfromthe topdown.
7. Movethe decklift leverintothetop notchon the rightfenderto
raisethedecklift armsupandout oftheway.
Avoidpinchinginjuries.Neverplaceyourfingersonthe idlerspringor
betweenthebeltanda pulleywhile removingthebelt.
