TO ADJUST CARBURETOR (See Fig. 36)
The carburetor has been present at the factory and adjust+
ment should not be necessary However, minor adjustmenl
may be required to compensate for differences In fuel,
temperature, all{rude or load tf the carburetor does need
adjustment, proceed as follows:
In general, turning the adjusting needles In (clockwise)
decreases the supp+y of fuel to the engine giving a leaner
fuel/air mI×h_re Turning lhe adjusling needles out (coun-
terclockwise) increases the supp{y of luel to the engine
giving a richer fueVair mixture
IMPORTANT: DAMAGE TO THE NEEDLES ANO THE
SEATS IN CARBURETOR MAY RESULT tF SCREW IS
TURNED tN TOO TIGHT
PRELIMINARY SETTING
• Be sure you have a c{ean air filter, and lhe throttle
control cable ts adjusted properly (see above)
• With engine oft turn id+elust ad ustlng needle [n (clock-
w ss) cos ng t fnger t ght and then turn out (counter-
clockwise) 1-1/4 turns
• Turn main fuel adjusting needle in (clockwise) ctosing
finger tight end then turrl out (counterclockwise) 1 turn
