3. Remove the memory cooling shroud. See Removing the Memory Module Cooling Shrouds.
4. Locate the memory module sockets on the system board. See Figure6-2.
5. Press down and out on the ejectors on each end of the socket until the memory module pops out of the socket. See Figure3-25.
6. Replace the memory cooling shroud. See Installing the Processor Cooling Shroud.
7. Close the system. See Closing the System.
Integrated NIC TOE
The TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) functionality of the system's integrated NIC is activated by the LOM NIC hardware key installed in the TOE_KEY socket on the
system board (see Figure6-2.) See the user documentation that came with this system for information on how to set up and configure the TOE feature.
Processors
You can upgrade your processors to take advantage of future options in speed and functionality. Each processor and its associated internal cache memory are
contained in a land grid array (LGA) package that is installed in a ZIF socket on the system board.
Removing a Processor
1. Prior to upgrading your system, download the latest system BIOS version on support.dell.com.
2. Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
3. Open the system. See Opening the System.
4. Remove the memory module cooling shrouds. See Removing the Memory Module Cooling Shrouds.
5. Remove the expansion cards from expansion-card riser 2. See Removing an Expansion Card.
6. Remove expansion-card riser 2. See Removing Expansion-Card Riser 2.
7. Remove the processor cooling shroud. See Removing the Processor Cooling Shroud.
8. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, loosen one of the two heat-sink retention screws. See Figure3-26.
9. Wait 30 seconds for the heat sink to loosen from the processor.
10. Loosen the other heat-sink retention screw.
11. Gently lift the heat sink off of the processor and set the heat sink aside.
