Thisappcanbeusedtomonitoryourexercise.Whilemoderatephysicalactivity,suchasbrisk
walking,issafeformostpeople,healthexpertssuggestthatyoutalkwithyourdoctorbeforeyou
startanexerciseprogram,particularlyifyouhaveanyofthefollowingconditions:
n Heartdisease;
n Asthmaorlungdisease;
n Diabetes,orliverorkidneydisease;
n Arthritis.
Youshouldalsocheckwithyourdoctorifyouhavesymptomssuggestiveofheart,lung,orother
seriousdisease,suchas:
n Painordiscomfortinyourchest,neck,jaw,orarmsduringphysicalactivity;
n Dizzinessorlossofconsciousness;
n Shortnessofbreathwithmildexertionoratrest,orwhenlyingdownorgoingtobed;
n Ankleswelling,especiallyatnight;
n Aheartmurmurorarapidorpronouncedheartbeat;
n Musclepainwhenwalkingupstairsorupahillthatgoesawaywhenyourest.
Finally,theAmericanCollegeofSportsMedicinerecommendsthatyouseeyourdoctorbefore
engaginginvigorousexerciseiftwoormoreofthefollowingapply:
n Youareamanolderthanage45orawomanolderthanage55;
n Youhaveafamilyhistoryofheartdiseasebeforeage55;
