CONFIGURATION
This chapter describes configuration settings for the 3C395
NIC and how to change them using the Configuration and
Diagnostic Program.
Table 5-1 summarizes the configuration settings.
* In multitasking environments, choosing the Minimize CPU setting saves CPU resources
for other tasks. If no other applications are making major demands on CPU resources,
choose the Maximize Network Performance setting.
† At 100 Mbps, setting the full-duplex option to Enabled improves the performance of
switch or hub connections. The 3C395 NIC supports full-duplex mode at 10 or
100 Mbps. If a switch supports the NWay auto-negotiation feature and full-duplex
operation, the NIC automatically runs in full-duplex mode.
CAUTION: Before setting the NIC for full-duplex mode,
make sure that the port to which the NIC is connected is
also set to full-duplex mode.
