The DAS vendor and systems integrator are solely responsible for the support of the DAS products,
adequateRFcoverage,andanyRF‐relatedissues.Thissupportincludes,butisnotexclusiveto,location
accuracy,RFcoverage,roamingissuesr elated
toRF,multipathissues,andscalability.
TheDASvendor andsystemsintegrator arealsoresponsiblefor understandingthatthe deployedDAS
system meets the requirements of all of the customer Wi‐Fi devices and applications over the DAS
system; this statement includes, but is not exclusive to, all Voice over
WLAN (VoWLAN) and medical
devices.
WhileCiscoTechnicalAssistanceCenter(TAC)andCiscofieldteamsdonotprovidesupportforRFissues
thatariseinaCiscoWLANusedoveraDAS,theydoprovidesupportfornon‐RFrelatedissuesinCisco
productsaccordingtothecustomersupportagreementwith
CiscoSystems.

Elevators
ElevatorcoveragecansometimesbeaccomplishedbyplacingAPsinthenearfieldoftheelevator,
typicallyoneachfloorneartheelevatordoor.Sinceelevatorsoftenhavemetaldoors,andtheshaftsare
oftenconcreteorcontainothermaterials thatdegradeWi‐Ficoverage,itisimportanttocheck
the
coverageinsidetheelevator.Elevatorcoveragecanbeachallenge,butitisoftenpossible,especiallyif
theelevatoronlyservesafewfloors.
Inhighriseelevators,roamingissuesaremoreproblematicbecausetheclientcyclesthroughalarge
numberofAPsratherquickly.Somecompaniesputa
patchantennaonthefloorinsidetheshaftanda
patchantennaonthebottomoftheelevatorcar,whileothercompaniesuseleakycoaxialcablealong
thesideoftheshaft.
WheninstallinganyWi‐Fiequipmentinsideelevatorcarsorshafts,followlocalregulations.Some
installationsmaybe
prohibitedbecauseofsafetyreasons,whileotherinstallationsmaybeprohibitedby
thebuildingownerorlocalfiredepartment.Onlyelevatorrepairpersonsorexperiencedcontractors
shouldperformthistypeofwork.
