Before removing the system board, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 37).
5. Remove the service access cover (see
Service access cover on page 38).
6. Disconnect the hard drive cable from the system board (see
Hard drive on page 45).
7. Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables from the WLAN module (see
WLAN module on page 39).
8. Disconnect the WWAN antenna cables from the WWAN module (see
WWAN module
on page 41).
9. Remove the keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 48).
10. Remove the top cover (see
Top cover on page 54).
When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the
defective system board and installed on the replacement system board:
WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 39)
WWAN module (see
WWAN module on page 41)
Memory module (see
Memory module on page 43)
RTC battery (see
RTC battery on page 44)
Remove the system board:
1. Remove the 2 Phillips PM2.0x5.0 screws (1) that secure the system board to the base
enclosure .
2. Starting in the middle of the system board, lift the system board up, and then lift the right side of
the system board (2) until it rests at an angle.
