Heat sink
NOTE: The heat sink spare part kit includes replacement thermal material.

For use only on computer models equipped with a graphics subsystem with UMA memory 693371-001
Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 57), and then remove the following components:

b.
Hard drive (see

c. Optical drive (see
Hard drive on page 65)
d. WLAN module (see
WLAN module on page 71)
e. WWAN module (see
WWAN module on page 69)
f. Fan (see

h. Base enclosure (see

i. System board (see
System board on page 97)
Remove the heat sink:
NOTE: Steps 1 and 2 apply to computer models equipped with a graphics subsystem with discrete
memory. See steps 3 and 4 for heat sink removal information for computer models equipped with a
graphics subsystem with UMA memory.
1. Following the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 sequence stamped into the heat sink, loosen the six captive Philllips
screws (1) and (2) that secure the heat sink to the system board.
