Modem module cable
NOTE: The modem module cable is available in the Cable Kit, spare part number 512832-001. The
modem module cable includes the RJ-11 jack.
Before removing the modem module cable, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC Adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 54).
5. Remove the following components:
a. Hard drive (see
Hard drive on page 63).
b. Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 57).
c. Switch cover and keyboard (see
Switch cover and keyboard on page 70).
d. Display assembly (see
Display assembly on page 75).
e. Top cover (see
Top cover on page 85).
f. USB board (see
USB board on page 92).
g. System board (see
System board on page 95).
Remove the modem module cable:
1. Release the clips (1) built into the base enclosure that secure the RJ-11 jack.
2. Remove the RJ-11 jack (2) from the clip built into the base enclosure.
3. Remove the modem module cable (3) from the clips and routing channel built into the base
enclosure.
Reverse this procedure to install the modem module cable.
