Installing and Removing Memory
NOTE
To be fully compliant with all applicable Intel SDRAM memory specifications, the boards require
DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. You can access the PC
Serial Presence Detect Specification at:
http://www.intel.com/technology/memory/ddr/specs/dda18c32_64_128x72ag_a.pdf
The desktop board has four 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets arranged as DIMM 0 (blue) and
DIMM 1 (black) in both Channel A and Channel B.
Guidelines for Dual Channel Memory Configuration
Before installing DIMMs, read and follow these guidelines for dual channel configuration.
Two or Four DIMMs
Install a matched pair of DIMMs equal in speed and size in DIMM 0 (blue) of both channels
A and B (see
Figure 13).
Channel A
1 GB, 533 MHz
DIMM 0
DIMM 1
Channel B
1 GB, 533 MHz
DIMM 0
DIMM 1

If additional memory is to be used, install another matched pair of DIMMs in DIMM 1 (black) in
both channels A and B (see
Figure 14).
Channel A
256 MB, 533 MHz
DIMM 0
512 MB, 533 MHz
DIMM 1
Channel B
