IC Link for Windows
The IC Link Utility assembles and organizes all of the necessary components to
create an IC Card project (PCMCIA/JEIDA, standard 4.0). Once assembled, the
utility formats the components and transfers them onto an IC Card inserted into
a locally connected printer. The IC Card contains the project information that will
be read into printer memory upon power-up. The removable IC Card can be
moved from one printer to another.
The IC Card project components include:
¡ Font data (TrueType, KPDL, etc.)
¡ Host data (forms, logos, signatures)
¡ Macros, Program data (PRESCRIBE, PCL, KPDL)
¡ Message data (to change the printer's Message Language setting).
The IC Link Utility enables you to download data directly to the printer's optional
Hard Disk and EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory). Data on
these alternative storage devices can be managed in the same manner as the
IC Cards, with the exception of Message data, which cannot be transferred.
IC Link for Windows can import DOS-based IC Link projects and manage, edit
and delete information on previously used IC Cards. However, IC Link projects
cannot be opened in DOS-based IC Link.
IC Link Benefits:
1. Facilitates the upgrade of firmware by managing new data the distribution.
2. Converts graphic information to PRESCRIBE Macro format for electronic
forms management
3. Distributes MACRO information to a resident storage device on the
Printer.
