Replacing the system fan

This section provides instructions on how to replace the system fan.
To replace the system fan, do the following:
1. Turn off the computer and disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets.
2. Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the computer cover” on page 33.
3. Locate the system fan in the computer. See “Locating components” on page 12.
4. Remove the heat sink for easier access to the system fan. See “Replacing the heat sink” on page 55.
5. Disconnect the system fan cable from the system board. See “Locating parts on the system board”
on page 13.
6. Remove the four screws that secure the system fan to the system board.
