7. To install the new hard disk drive into the bracket, ex the bracket and align pin 1 , pin 2 , pin 3 , and
pin 4 on the bracket with the corresponding holes in the hard disk drive. Do not touch the circuit
board 5 on the bottom of the hard disk drive.

8. Connect the signal cable and the power cable to the rear of the new hard disk drive.
9. Slide the new hard disk drive into the hard disk drive bay and pivot it down until it snaps into position.
10. Reconnect the power cable to the optical drive.
11. Go to “Completing the parts replacement” on page 98.
Replacing the optical drive

This section provides instructions on how to replace the optical drive.
To replace the optical drive, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Open the computer cover. See “Opening the computer cover” on page 72.
3. Remove the front bezel. See “Removing and reinstalling the front bezel” on page 73.
4. Disconnect the signal cable and the power cable from the rear of the optical drive.
