Troubleshooting
Problem Possible cause Solution
The display is blank.
The battery is not inserted
properly.
Check the orientation of the battery
(P.11).
The remaining battery power
is low.
Charge the battery (P.12, P.16).
The power is OFF.
Turn the power ON (P.15).
Unable to operate the
voice recorder
The remaining battery power
is low.
Charge the battery (P.12, P.16).
The power is OFF.
Turn the power ON (P.15).
The voice recorder is in HOLD
mode.
Release HOLD mode (P.21).
Unable to record
There is no remaining memory.
Erase unneeded files (P.46).
The maximum number of
recordable files has been reached.
Select another folder (P.25, P.27).
Playback is inaudible.
The earphones are connected to
the EAR jack.
To output the playback through the built-
in speaker, disconnect the earphones.
[Off] has been selected for
[Speaker].
To output the playback through the
built-in speaker, select [On] for [Speaker]
(P.70).
The volume is set to [00].
Adjust the volume ( P.36).
The recording is too
quiet.
The recording level hasn’t been
adjusted.
Redo recording after adjusting the
recording level ( P.58).
A low recording level has been
set.
Redo recording after setting the recording
level to [High] or [Middle] ( P.58).
The output level of the connected
external device may be too low.
Adjust the output level of the external
device.
Audio file sound is
distorted.
The recording level hasn’t been
adjusted.

The voice recorder’s recording
level, or the output level of the
connected external device may
be too high.
If the problem continues after adjusting
the voice recorder’s recording level
( P.58), adjust the output level of the
external device.
